Peaceful Decorating for your home

Find the decorating style that is right for you. Whether you work from home and want a peaceful space to keep your workday stress free or you just want to come home to some peace of mind after a hard day; here are some different options that could work for you. Explore these two unique techniques to bring peace and positivity into your home.

Minimalist

Keeping the entryway to your home simple can be very welcoming. If you walk into your home to decoration overload it can have a negative effect on your mood. Too much, too soon can be overwhelming. You want the first sight you see when you walk into your home to give you a feeling of relaxation. You could try a floating shelf for a simple and sleek look that adds class and simplicity to your entryway. Another great way to add some simple class with minimal effort is a mirror with clean lines. A mirror can open up a room and make it appear larger if that is something you are trying ro achieve.

Cooking can be stressful for some of us and keeping your countertops clear of appliances and cook wear can make for a calmer cooking experience. Simple bar stools and under the cabinet lighting are nice touches for a simple and inviting kitchen. Overdoing it with big, bulky stools can take away from your neat and clean looking kitchen. Try something with simple lines but still comfortable and inviting. Hidden lighting under the cabinets can create a soft and glow but that still gives you enough light for working in the kitchen.

Being a minimalist can help remove chaos in your life. If you’re the kind of person who needs little distraction and a clear mind before making your next move, minimalism might be the right fit for you. Having a lot on your mind can be stressful so having a bunch of clutter and unnecessary items sitting around your house can have the same effect. Having a place for everything that is out of site, can help keep your mind at ease. It gives meaning to the phrase, “out of sight out of mind.” So, try to organize your rooms like you would organize your mind.

Simple, clean lines give a sense of cleanliness in a bathroom. The last thing you want is to walk into a cluttered bathroom that doesn’t look clean. The best way to achieve this is have a place for all your products and brushes that is out of site. The more there is sitting out, the easier it is to become cluttered and overwhelming. Keep it simple with only the essentials, like soap, sitting out on the sink. A glass shower door is always a clean look but if you don’t have that kind of set up, you can never go wrong with a solid, neutral colored shower curtain.

Having a living room that is simple and put together can encourage a peaceful mind and sense of calmness when you come home. Whether it is a place where you like to unwind and watch TV or sit and read a book, your living room can really tell a story. It is a great place to express yourself through your minimalist designing techniques. Windows without curtains can open up a room and give it a simple and peaceful look that isn’t distracting to the eye. Pedestal and drum base tables are highly functional for saving space and a great look if you are going for a minimalist look.

Biophilic

Having a nature driven entry way can bring a very peaceful and inviting warmness to your home. Decorating with plants and earthy tones with a nice floor runner can set the tone for your home. A simple woodsy table and a bench can give you a sense of being in a peaceful park.

A biophilic kitchen can be tricky. Kitchens are often a busy place where you’re cooking, cleaning, and entertaining. Keeping “quick grab items” on the countertops can make for a cluttered kitchen. Avoid putting plants directly in your windowsill, as it can block the natural light from reaching the rest of your kitchen. Open shelving is another way to keep the natural light beaming in throughout your kitchen.

This unique style of decorating helps keep you connected to nature and all the calming elements that nature has to offer. Connecting to nature as a way to find inner peace and is a grounding technique that has been used for both, inside the home and out. Biophilic design involves a lot of plants, natural light and calm, earthy colors. If you enjoy taking care of your plants as a stress reducer and feel completely at ease when out in nature, then using biophilic design would be a great way for you to create a peaceful space.

Soft lighting and natural colors in your bathroom can make for a very relaxing experience. I personally love surrounding myself with nature while soaking in a tub or taking a nice steamy shower. Whether relaxing in a bath or unwinding in the shower, these moments often inspire reflection. A biophilic design approach can promote calmness, clarity, and a sense of peace. Bowl, or vessel sinks are great in a biophilic bathroom as they are a natural shape that resembles river stones and pools of water. Hanging plants and woven baskets are a nice touch that give your bathroom an all-natural feel.

If you have a lot of natural light in your living room, this is where you can really shine! The living room is often the heart of the home—a social space where personal style and self-expression come to life visually. Sheer curtains and floating shelves aid in keeping that sun shining through and your plants thriving. The more sun, the more positive energy. For me anyway. Using mirrors or reflecting surfaces helps that sun bounce around the room.

About Me

I am a small-town mom who has worked hard to find peace and harmony in my life. After my father passed away shortly after my 30th birthday, I went through a very rough patch in my life that almost killed me. I found myself in a hole that only got deeper and darker until I reached the bottom. I finally collapsed and was forced to face the harsh truth…I needed to make a change. I found my way out of that dark place in my life after being introduced to a therapeutic method called grounding. I used this method to re-invent myself. This was difficult because I didn’t know who I was anymore. As I continued to climb out of my hole, things in my life began to look up. I started surrounding myself with people and things that had a positive effect on me. This meant, going on grounding walks to get inspiration from nature to redecorate our home. As I kept decorating, I kept getting even more inspired and found myself sitting quietly in the finished room in complete and total peace. I love to share my positivity with others and help them find peace in their lives as well. Whether it be by helping them create a more peaceful house to come home to or just listening and offering some humbling advice. Everyone has a story to tell and the way you decorate your home is a reflection of your story
